Day 31

Posted by michellefoos on Sunday, 7 February, 2010

Old Testament Reading:  Job 19; Job 20; Job 21 NIV   I don’t think I like reading Job…he seems so upset with God…

New Testament Reading:  Matthew 21:1-17 NIV    Jesus is a teacher, teaching the ways of God ~ the “holy men” of the town were so ruthless and hateful – deceiving so many.

Psalms Reading:  Psalm 18:1-6 NIV  God hears us when we call out to him, our words fall on his ears and he listens.  Do I listen as he speaks to me?  Do I listen in the silence for his answer to my prayers?

Day 30

Posted by michellefoos on Sunday, 7 February, 2010

Old Testament Reading: Job 15; Job 16; Job 17; Job 18 NIV  Job seems to really be feeling pity on himself…

New Testament Reading: Matthew 20:20-34 NIV  The crowd that was following Jesus rebuked the blind men…shushing them as they were calling out to Jesus…as I am listening or learning from Jesus…do I ignore the needs of others?  Is this like Martha?  I do not want to be like that.

Psalms Reading: Psalm 17:13-15 NIV  Protect me Lord from those that would cause harm to me, keep me safe and build me up as a sheild with your strength.

Day 29

Posted by michellefoos on Sunday, 7 February, 2010

Old Testament Reading: Job 11; Job 12; Job 13; Job 14 NIV  I don’t like reading Job…he is so frustrated.

New Testament Reading: Matthew 20:1-19 NIV  The last will be first, and the first will be last…we talked about this in church today.  Do not be envious…God has a plan for each of us…all with the end result, to be with him in Heaven.

Psalms Reading: Psalm 17:6-12 NIV  A prayer to be covered and protected by our Father in Heaven.

Day 28

Posted by michellefoos on Sunday, 7 February, 2010

Old Testament Reading: Job 8; Job 9; Job 10 NIV   I don’t know what to say about this reading…sometimes I feel the same way Job does…frustrated.

New Testament Reading: Matthew 19:16-30 NIV  To give up everything and follow Jesus…I have dreams of going on mission trips…helping those in need, helping people that really want it, that want to learn about Jesus.  Right now, it is just a struggle to teach those in my own household…How can I have such wonderful children and at the same time they don’t get it?  I want them so much to see the importance of walking with Jesus…more than anything, this is what I want.  I struggle with the idea that it has to be their walk – their choice.

Proverbs Reading: Proverbs 3:11-20 NIV  Wisdom – the Bible is full of wisdom.

Day 26 & 27

Posted by michellefoos on Monday, 1 February, 2010

Job 1; Job 2; Job 3 NIV & Job 4; Job 5; Job 6; Job 7 NIV

Job is very unhappy and miserable – he has lost everything and it seems his faith is faultering…but I am not sure because sometimes I don’t get what they say in the BIble….

Matthew 18:10-35 NIV & Matthew 19:1-15 NIV

I love listening to the teachings of Jesus…

Psalm 16:1-11 NIV & Psalm 17:1-5 NIV

Versus in Psalms are like words spoken on the wind…they bounce around – beautiful and light as if God himself was blowing bubbles on a beautiful, warm summer day – I love listening to prayers that are my own.

Day 24 & 25

Posted by michellefoos on Monday, 1 February, 2010

Genesis 47:13-31; Genesis 48 NIV & Genesis 49; Genesis 50 NIV

As he blessed Josephs sons…that was interesting…God really spoke to them and blessed them each.

Matthew 16:21-28; Matthew 17:1-13 NIV & Matthew 17:14-27; Matthew 18:1-9 NIV

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

All it takes is faith…why is it so hard to have faith in things?

Proverbs 3:1-10 NIV & Psalm 15:1-5 NIV

There are many things – tything always stands out to me…give of your first fruits…this I must remember.

It sounds so simple to be among those that may enter the sanctuary…I think it is much more difficult that it sounds.  It is far too easy to get caught up in the world, in people…I find myself constantly reminding to keep my eyes on God…keep them fixed, all will be forgiven, pray always…keep myself fixed on Father.

Day 23

Genesis 46; Genesis 47:1-12 NIV

I like how they bless each other…God really is good…

Matthew 16:1-20 NIV

Jesus speaks and he really does tell us everything…it is God who opens our eyes and hearts to the love of Jesus and all that he is.

Psalm 14:1-7 NIV

Day 22

Matthew 15:10-39 NIV

Jesus fed thousands with just a little…

Psalm 13:1-6 NIV

this is how I feel…how long Lord?

Day 19, 20 & 21

Posted by michellefoos on Thursday, 21 January, 2010

Okay…no excuses…started a new job and I am not used to being gone…that is still no excuse…this is Gods time and I am taking it from Him so I have 3 days to catch up on!~

Genesis 38; Genesis 39 NIV & Genesis 40; Genesis 41:1-40 NIV & Genesis 41:41-57; Genesis 42 NIV

I love the Story of Joseph…I ended up listening through Genesis 45 – this touches my heart that God has such a greater plan that we can every imagine…He sees the BIGGER picture…Joseph told his brothers not to feel bad that it was God who did this, who sent him before them…God allowed the brothers to bear the burden of what they did so they would repent and turn their faces toward God and ask forgivness…the whole time it was Gods plan in order that Egypt would be saved. I could really read this over and over…it does touch my heart so deeply how God is in control.

Matthew 13:36-58 through Matthew 15:1-9 NIV

The stories of Jesus and his disciples are amazing…to be able to walk with him and teach and learn from Him…how great that would have been…but we still can just by opening our hearts and quieting our voice/mind.

Psalm 11:1-7 NIV & Proverbs 2:12-22 NIV & Psalm 12:1-8 NIV

Wisdom is a good thing to gain…wisdom in God…I love what He is teaching me…I want to walk on the straight & righteous path.

Day 17 & 18

Posted by michellefoos on Monday, 18 January, 2010

Somewhere I missed a day…not sure what happened there…

Genesis 34; Genesis 35 NIV & Genesis 36; Genesis 37 NIV

As I am reading I am amazed at what happens…sometimes in a book you can almost see what is coming…in the Bible, I guess I don’t expect so much “bad” stuff…I assumed that once they were circumsised they had an agreement but I could also not understand how that would make the violation of her okay…so, when they killed all the males…I was a bit surprised…God protected them as they moved on to another place to live.

Lots of geneology…I get lost!

I have always loved the story of Joseph – he perseveres through many trials and he really is living by the will of God.

Matthew 12:46-50; Matthew 13:1-17 NIV & Matthew 13:18-35 NIV

All the stories about Jesus teaching…they are amazing…I will have to read them over and over to allow them to be deep within my heart with understanding…I really enjoy these readings.

Psalm 10:1-11 NIV & Psalm 10:12-18 NIV

That is almost scary…how it speaks of wicked men and how they do wicked things but in the end God is a God and Ruler of all…he hears me, he hears my heart cry out and I must do all I can to listen and hear his guidance.
